What EPOS Release 26.1 Brings to SAP Basis Automation

Automation is becoming increasingly important as SAP environments become more hybrid and cloud-based. EPOS Release 26.1 expands the platform’s capabilities and introduces new ways to make recurring operational tasks more efficient. The focus is not limited to traditional on-premises environments, but also includes cloud and SAP RISE environments - thereby focusing on the different system landscapes that SAP Basis teams increasingly need to manage together.

Automation

New Features & SAP RISE-Ready Apps

SAP RISE changes how SAP operations are managed. While SAP takes over the infrastructure and certain technical operations, at the same time, companies remain responsible for a range of important tasks, including user management, certificates, security, compliance, system data, and customer-side process steps.

For SAP Basis teams, this raises a key question:

Which tasks remain our responsibility - and how can we perform them in an efficient, secure and repeated manner?

EPOS Release 26.1 addresses this area directly. The platform helps SAP Basis teams standardize and automate operational processes across different system environments. EPOS is designed around the reality of modern SAP landscapes: on-premises systems, cloud environments, SAP RISE, and additional non-SAP services often need to be administered together.

What’s New in 26.1?

SAP RISE Ready: Certificate Management App

With EPOS 26.1, the Empirius Suite EPOS expands its support for RISE with SAP. The Certificate Management App provides a guided workflow for certificate lifecycle management and supports, among others, Java systems, PIN-protected PSEs, SAP Host Agent, and HANA-only certificates. PKI integrations and scheduled jobs can be used to organize renewals in a planned and repeatable way. Certificate information can also be retrieved and managed for SAP RISE systems.

SAP RISE Ready: UserAdmin App

The new SAP UserAdmin App enables centralized user management across multiple systems and clients. Locking, unlocking, deleting users, and changing passwords are consolidated into a single, standardized process. The app uses SAP-provided function modules and does not require direct database or OS access.

Manage Heterogeneous Landscapes from a Single Interface

Starting with Release 26.1, Data Collectors can provide system data from on-premises, cloud, and SAP RISE environments. This gives Basis teams a unified view of the system landscape they actually manage. New systems can be incorporated into data collection more easily through a dynamic host list.

Beyond SAP: Integrating Non-SAP Services into Processes

In practice, SAP Basis teams often also manage FTP servers, Windows services, Cloud Connectors, and other standalone components. EPOS 26.1 integrates these non-SAP services into process definitions and execution workflows through the Destination Repository. Predefined services can be used, and additional services can be added.

Less Manual Custom Work

The modernized EPOS framework makes day-to-day administration easier. Server and app settings can be configured directly through the user interface. The new BlueCopy TableSet Editor supports the customization of standard TableSets and the creation of custom TableSets directly within a job. If questions arise, Empirius Support can be contacted directly from a job, with relevant information as well as optional screenshots and files automatically included.

System Copies in SAP RISE: A Topic for the Future

System copies in RISE environments remain a relevant process. BlueCopy is planned to support users in RISE in the future. Certification as an ABAP add-on is currently in preparation.

At the yearly Congress for the German Speaking SAP User Group (DSAG Jahreskongress), we will explain and showcase which tasks can already be automated today and how companies can prepare their processes for further developments.
