With the EPOS 25.4 update, we’re taking automation of SAP system copies to the next level: a new periodic scheduler, flexible email notifications, and ready-to-use plugins for UserExits streamline your system copy processes sustainably – with no manual intervention required.
In this article, we take a closer look at the updates to BlueCopy – our EPOS app for fully automated SAP system copies. Updates and enhancements in the areas of other EPOS Automation Apps and Framework will be presented in separate posts.
BlueCopy (Our EPOS app for fully automated SAP system copies)
- Schedule system copies periodically via the internal scheduler
- Extended email functionality – notifications
- Additional SAP tasks added to standard
- Simplified UserExits with plugins
EPOS Automation
- New apps: HANA Parameter, SAP Transports, MaxDB Update
- Enhancements in Profile Parameters, Compliance, HANA Update
EPOS Reporting
- With even more information available now
EPOS Framework
- New ad-hoc tasks such as SAP User Management in the Admin Engine
- Enhanced performance
- Downtime minimized during patching (first step) – job chains
During a running job, targeted messages can now be sent to departments or colleagues – e.g., notifications on status changes.
To enable this, configure all SMTP settings in <jobroot>/etc/EPOS.config.
New: You can now define additional recipients via a new config entry EPOS.config
To customize the email text, modify the following file:
<jobroot>/templates/MailAlert.mailtpl
If you want to notify departments or colleagues during job execution, this is now possible using the new Mail UserExit type:
You can also define and save different message templates.
Simply copy the sample from:<jobroot>/templates/Mailtemplate.mailtpl and save it using the desired name and text.
Within the job, you can then specify which message is sent to which recipients at which phase via the Mail UserExit.
An additional SAP Task has been added to the standard: Report RSBTCCNS is now available by default.
The foundation has been laid for bundled UserExit actions: For example, in cases like HANA UserExits (Prepare and Restore), we now deliver a single package.
The key advantage: You no longer need to make changes to the job definition when modifying or extending UserExits.
System copies can now be scheduled directly via the EPOS Periodic Scheduler – whether daily, weekly, or otherwise.
Just select a template of the desired BSC job, choose it in the Periodic Scheduler, define the time – and you’re done. The job will then appear automatically in the job list at runtime as usual.
